What Makes A Great Logo?
What To Look For In A Logo Design
When is a logo great? A neat logo that looks good on the web and in print isn't enough. A logo is a branding tool. A very powerful one. A great logo sells!
Here's what to look for in a business logo:
1. Uniqueness
Too many logos just disappear into a sea of similar logos. Before your target audience can get to know your logo, you first have to get them to notice it.
2. Simplicity
Think of a logo. Any Logo. Got one? Is it a very complex logo or something simple like the Nike logo, the McDonald's logo or the Apple logo? I'll bet it's a simple one. That's because simple logos stick in people's minds.
3. Flexibility
So, it looks fantastic on your web site? Does it also look good in just black after it has been Xeroxed or faxed? Great logos do not depend on fancy colors alone. The uniqueness and simplicity of the basic Apple logo means it stays recognizable no matter what fill is used.
4. Timelessness
Try to avoid logo design trends and fashions. Businesses spend thousands - sometimes millions - on getting their brand "out there". Changing a logo that has become outdated is costly.
